True or False:  Having a salon suite in Greensboro seems super overwhelming and I could never do it all.

A:  That could be true if you are in the very first couple chapters of your career.  Working for someone else is a great place to start as you develop as a professional.  You have probably already noticed, regardless of what industry you’re in, there is a lot going on & plenty to learn.

True or False:  I’ve worked in a bigger salon that employs an entire team.  There is no way I can be the stylist, receptionist, assistant, cleaning lady and owner.

A:  Similar fear as the first one and it is true (kinda.) Bigger salons need an entire staff to keep it running.  The key word is bigger.  Your salon suite is fit just for you.  The amount of towels, trash, supplies to purchase and general responsibility is a fraction of what you’re used to seeing!  Also, online booking is helpful with reception duties and cleaning is simple and easy when your space only gets used by you.  

True or False:  Online booking is scary.  I could never let my guests book their own appointments - everything would get messed up. 

A:  Totally false.  Knowing the details and how these online booking platforms work is key.  If you’re still writing appointments down by hand and confirming appointments via text you are wasting precious time.  

A lot of online booking sites let the guest “request an appointment” vs making one that is already set in stone.  Once they request it, you get a notification and you are able to review the request and accept it or correspond with the guest about needed changes.  

One [unexpected] helpful feature online booking offers is that clients see the price upfront when requesting the appointment.  No more wondering if the price you need to charge them is “too high for them” or if they will feel sticker shocked at check out.  They’ve already seen it going in.  

True or False:  If I work in a salon suite all by myself I will lose the sense of community and won’t have any work besties.  

A:  False.  When you work in a salon suite you are surrounded by other beauty professionals.  Probably more than you were in a previous work space.  Think of it less like a secluded cabin in the woods and more like a dorm where each person has their own space but surrounded by people in the same season of life.

Imagine getting to close your door and having the privacy and quiet you need while also having the ability to see your work friends in the common areas between clients.  It’s absolutely a community with the perks of your own private space.
